Brilliant Workshop!

From the moment I arrived, Ian was warm, friendly, and very welcoming. As much as I love getting hands-on experience, what stood out even more was the depth of his knowledge and guidance.

You can immediately tell he has plenty of real-world experience — he provided not only technical feedback but also valuable insights into what’s truly important when establishing a studio.

He covered the behind-the-scenes aspects, including how to prepare for a studio shoot — from the actual setup to the pre-shoot research — as well as how to work effectively with key stakeholders like hair and makeup artists and models, and how to direct the scene as the photographer.

He also gave excellent advice on interacting with models. His approach was incredibly respectful and professional, which I really appreciated.

On the technical side, Ian’s teaching was brilliant. A studio is such a unique environment, and he shared practical advice on how to use that controlled setting to our advantage as photographers.

There’s so much more variety and creative opportunity in a studio than I had ever considered before today.

I’m so grateful for his patience and the supportive atmosphere he created. I highly recommend this class to anyone who wants to get the most out of their studio photography experience — it will make a real difference!

Wow what a game-changer for me!

I just did Ian’s hands-on indoor flash photography class, and it completely flipped the way I see flash photography. I used to avoid it. External flashes, studio setups, it all felt too technical and overwhelming. I had a real mental block.

But Ian made it so easy to understand. We jumped straight into it, setting up lights, taking shots, adjusting things on the fly. No fluff, just practical learning.

For the first time, I actually enjoy using flash. I get how it works, and I feel confident now.

I can’t recommend Iain enough. He’s going to be my go-to expert moving forward.

Also super excited to find out he rents his studio for shoots. That’s a huge bonus, I’ll definitely be back!

Big thanks to Emmely as well for being such a great model and giving me the chance to shoot with her.
